Add a store locator to Squarespace

In Squarespace you add the map with a Code block. Whether iframes run there depends on your Squarespace plan.

No plugin neededNo dedicated plugin is planned for Squarespace - the Code block is the intended way.

What you get

A location map with list, search and filters on your Squarespace page. You manage locations in My Store Locator.

Before you start

  • A My Store Locator account (sign up free)
  • A published map (status "Live")
  • The embed code from the Embed Studio in the app
  • A Squarespace plan that allows JavaScript and iframes in Code blocks. According to Squarespace's help this is the case from the Core plan (on older plans from Business). Check your plan in the settings.

Step by step

  1. In Embed Studio, copy the code from the iframe tab.
  2. Open the page in Squarespace and click Edit.
  3. Click Add block where you want the map and choose Code.
  4. Paste the code. Leave the mode on HTML and turn Display source off.
  5. Drag the block to the width you want, save and check the live page.
<iframe src="https://app.my-store-locator.com/#/m/YOUR-TOKEN" title="Store locator" style="width:100%;height:640px;border:0;max-width:100%" loading="lazy" allow="geolocation"></iframe>

Your plan does not allow iframes? Then link to the map with a "Find a store" button. The link and a QR code are on the Link & QR tab in Embed Studio.

In Embed Studio, turn on "Load the map only after a click (GDPR)" and copy the code again. Visitors then see a placeholder with a privacy notice first, and the map only loads after a click. More under GDPR & security.

If the map does not show up

  • Only a "Script disabled" placeholder in the editor: Squarespace often does not render embedded content in the editor. Check the live page.
  • Blank on the live page: your plan may not support iframes in Code blocks.
  • "Map not available": the map is still a draft. Publish it in the app.

All options are explained in the embedding guide.

FAQ

Is there a Squarespace plugin?

No, and you don't need one for the Code block approach.

Can I use the JavaScript widget?

Yes, also in a Code block. For Squarespace we recommend the iframe, because template scripts affect it the least.

Does this work with Squarespace 7.0 and 7.1?

Yes. The Code block has the same name in both versions. Plan names differ.

Try it with your own locations.
