Add a store locator to Shopify

A Custom Liquid section is all it takes to show your stores, dealers or pickup points inside your Shopify theme.

What you get

A location map with search, filters and directions links inside your Shopify theme. Shoppers find the nearest store or stockist without leaving your shop, and you manage the data in one place in My Store Locator.

Before you start

  • A My Store Locator account (sign up free)
  • A published map (status "Live")
  • The embed code from the Embed Studio in the app
  • Access to the Shopify theme editor

Step by step

  1. In the app's Embed Studio, copy the code for your map (the Shopify or iframe tab – it is the same code).
  2. In Shopify, open Online Store → Themes → Customize.
  3. Pick the page at the top of the editor, for example "Stores". If the page does not exist yet, create it first under Online Store → Pages.
  4. Click Add section → Custom Liquid.
  5. Paste the code into the Liquid field and click Save.
<iframe src="https://app.my-store-locator.com/#/m/YOUR-TOKEN" title="Store locator" style="width:100%;height:640px;border:0;max-width:100%" loading="lazy" allow="geolocation"></iframe>

Depending on your theme, a section applies to every page that uses the same template. If the map should only appear on one page, give that page its own page template.

Note: There is no official My Store Locator app in the Shopify App Store. You embed the map with the code from Embed Studio.

Change the template, keep the code

The code contains a fixed token. When you switch the template, colours or visible fields in the app, the map in Shopify picks that up automatically.

In Embed Studio you can turn on "Load the map only after a click (GDPR)". Your shop then shows a placeholder with a short notice, and the map only loads after a click. Copy the new code afterwards.

Height and mobile

The map uses the full width of the section. Set the height in Embed Studio. Since a lot of shop traffic is mobile, try the "Mobile Sheet" template and test on a phone.

If the map does not show up

  • Blank in the theme preview: check the page in your storefront or open the preview in a new tab.
  • "Map not available": the map is still a draft and needs to be published in the app.
  • Content Security Policy: if you or an app set a CSP, frame-src must allow app.my-store-locator.com.

More in the embedding guide.

FAQ

Do I need a Shopify app?

No. Custom Liquid sections are built into Shopify themes. There is no separate app.

Can I show the map on a product page?

Technically yes, with the same section in the product template. Keep in mind it will then appear on every product using that template.

Do store changes show up right away?

Yes. The map loads your locations from My Store Locator every time it is opened.

Try it with your own locations.

Create an account, import your locations, embed the map. The Free plan stays free – and you can test Pro for 14 days.
