Add a store locator to Jimdo

With Jimdo, the right approach depends on which Jimdo product you use. In Jimdo Creator, the Widget/HTML element does the job.

What you get

An interactive location map with list, search and filters on your Jimdo site. You manage locations in My Store Locator and changes appear automatically.

Before you start

  • A My Store Locator account (sign up free)
  • A published map (status "Live")
  • The embed code from the Embed Studio in the app (the iframe tab)
  • A Jimdo site where you can add your own HTML code

Which Jimdo product do you use?

Jimdo has two products: the older Jimdo Creator and the newer Jimdo website builder. Embedding works differently in each.

Jimdo Creator

  1. In the app's Embed Studio, copy the code from the iframe tab.
  2. In Jimdo, open the page where the map should appear.
  3. Add a new element at the right spot and choose Widget/HTML.
  4. Paste the code into the input field and save.
  5. Check the page in the preview or after publishing.

Jimdo website builder

Whether you can embed your own HTML in the newer website builder depends on your Jimdo plan. Check your Jimdo account or Jimdo's help pages to see if an HTML or code embed element is available for your site. If it is, paste the same code there.

If HTML embedding is not available, link to the map with the link or QR code from Embed Studio instead, for example behind a "Find a location" button.

<iframe src="https://app.my-store-locator.com/#/m/YOUR-TOKEN" title="Store locator" style="width:100%;height:640px;border:0;max-width:100%" loading="lazy" allow="geolocation"></iframe>

Change the template, keep the code

The code contains a fixed token. Switching templates or colours in the app does not change it, so nothing changes on the Jimdo side.

Turn on "Load the map only after a click (GDPR)" in Embed Studio. Visitors then see a placeholder with a short notice first, and the map only loads after a click. Paste the updated code into Jimdo.

Height and mobile

The map takes the width of the content area. Set the height in Embed Studio. Test the page on a phone as well; for narrow layouts the "Mobile Sheet" template can be easier to use.

If the map does not show up

  • Blank in edit mode: embedded code is not always shown while editing. Check the published page.
  • "Map not available": the map is still a draft. Publish it in the app.
  • Code will not save: your plan may not allow HTML embedding. Use the link or QR code instead.

FAQ

How do I know whether I use Jimdo Creator?

The easiest way is to check your Jimdo account or Jimdo's help. The two products have different editors and element lists.

Can I use the JavaScript widget instead of the iframe?

For Jimdo we recommend the iframe code. It also works where scripts are restricted.

What if my plan does not allow HTML?

Link to the map with the direct link or a QR code from Embed Studio. The map then opens in its own window.

Try it with your own locations.

Create an account, import your locations, embed the map. The Free plan stays free – and you can test Pro for 14 days.
