What Store Locator Plus does well

Store Locator Plus has been around for many years; according to wordpress.org the plugin was first published in 2011. Its strengths according to the vendor:

  • Low entry price: plans of the hosted MySLP service start at $5 per month according to its website.
  • Large networks: plans range from 125 to 15,000 locations, with custom pricing above that.
  • Google Maps without your own key: with the hosted service the vendor handles the Google licence, so you need no API key of your own.
  • Many platforms: according to the vendor the service works with WordPress, Squarespace, Weebly, Wix and other systems.
  • Buy instead of rent: for WordPress there are add-ons you buy once and run yourself.

Where the differences are

Google Maps or OpenStreetMap. Store Locator Plus uses Google Maps. Many visitors know it, and the map data is very rich. Loading a Google map does, however, send the visitor's IP address to Google, which in Germany and the EU usually requires consent. With us, tiles and address search run through our server in Germany, and a two-click mode is built in. Background in the guide Store locator and GDPR.

Map views. Both include map views in the plan. With MySLP, views above the allowance cost extra per 200 views according to its website. Do the maths for your own traffic with both models.

WordPress. If you are looking for the former free plugin from the WordPress directory: according to wordpress.org the listing "store-locator-le" has been closed since 10 Jul 2024 and is not available for download there. The vendor sells its WordPress add-ons through its own website. Our WordPress plugin is in preparation; today you embed the map with the "Custom HTML" block - see the WordPress guide.
