Privacy notice for visitors of embedded maps
You are using a store map on a website that is embedded with My Store Locator. Here you can find out which data is processed and whom to contact.
Last updated: 15 October 2026
1. Who is responsible?
The operator of the website on which you see the map is responsible (controller). They decide which locations are shown and receive your enquiries. You will find their name and contact details in the imprint and privacy policy of their website.
We, Internet am Dornbusch, run My Store Locator as a technical service provider on behalf of the website operator (processing on behalf according to Art. 28 GDPR). We do not use the data for our own purposes. For questions and to exercise your rights, please contact the website operator directly. We forward requests that reach us to them.
2. Loading the map
When the map loads, your browser fetches the map, the location data and the map tiles from app.my-store-locator.com. Our server automatically processes:
- IP address
- date and time of access
- requested address and HTTP status code
- browser type and version, operating system
Purpose: delivering the map, stability and security (for example protection against overload and attacks). This information is not combined with other data and is deleted as soon as it is no longer needed for these purposes.
The map sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and loads no analytics, advertising or tracking services and no fonts from third-party servers.
Statistics for the website operator: we count how often the map is opened and how often functions are used (for example "Route", "Call", "Website") and which search terms are entered. These figures are stored without IP address and without cookies; they cannot be linked to a person.
3. Search and "My location"
When you search for a place, postcode or address, your browser sends the search text to our server. The address is looked up on our own map server in Germany; no external service is asked.
With "My location" your browser first asks for your permission. Only if you agree is your position used to calculate the distance to the locations and to show the nearest ones. Your position is not stored.
4. Route inside the map
When you calculate a route, your browser sends your starting point and the chosen location to our server. It calculates the route on our own map server; your IP address is not passed on. We keep the result in memory for at most 10 minutes so that identical requests are answered faster. It is not stored permanently.
"Open in Google Maps" is a normal link. Google Maps only opens when you click it; Google's privacy policy then applies.
5. Contact form
If you send an enquiry through the map, we store your details (name, e-mail address, phone number if given, type of enquiry, message and the chosen location) in the website operator's account. The operator is notified and may forward the enquiry to their own systems, for example their e-mail program or a team chat.
Legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) or handling your enquiry before a possible contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Required fields are marked; without them the enquiry cannot be handled. How long the operator keeps enquiries is stated in their privacy policy.
6. Servers and recipients
The application and its database run on servers operated by us at STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, the map server at IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur – both in data centres in Germany. No data is transferred to countries outside the EU.
Map data: © OpenStreetMap contributors, licence ODbL (https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright (external link)). The data is stored on our own server; the OpenStreetMap Foundation receives no data from you.
7. Legal basis for showing the map
Showing the map, the search and the route are based on the website operator's legitimate interest in showing their locations and making them easy to find (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
8. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR) and the right to withdraw consent at any time for the future. Please contact the website operator for this. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
Our own privacy policy for my-store-locator.com and for customers of the application is available under Privacy.
